THE SATELLITE MEDIA GROUP (SMG)

The SATELLITE MEDIA GROUP (SMG) has been involved in various media - Print & Publishing, Radio, Cable TV, Content syndication and Satellite TV for the past 27 years in India.

This encompasses the startup of satellite channels, the establishment of satellite delivered services, through design and implementation of country-entry strategies, distribution strategies, selection of Conditional Access and Pay Television solutions (for Pay channels), CATV solutions, and other media and promotional services, in India.

We are currently the India Agency for all activities related to the German public Broadcaster - DEUTSCHE WELLE TV (DW TV), and have in the past been responsible for the distribution of the French language TV5, both of which are being broadcast as a part of a European bouquet from the AsiaSat 2 satellite. We have ensured the carriage of DW TV in over 18 million homes in the country, within a period of less than two years.

SMG have in the past also been retained for providing their services to satellite channels for technical consulting services, such as for arranging for Playout, Compression, Scrambling, uplink services, as well as for identifying and finalising satellite capacity for new satellite channels.

In addition, SMG own India’s most widely read trade magazine for this industry, the SATELLITE & CABLE TV magazine (thru their subsidiary company - Scat Media & Consultancy Private Limited), which also organizes the country’s largest international tradeshow catering exclusively to CATV equipment and Satellite channels. The exhibition, being held for the past 21 years, is established as the single largest event, exclusively for the cable & satellite industry in India, and has been recognized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, as well as the Indian Trade Promotion Organization. The magazine has over 40,000 readers monthly in India.

SMG were recently appointed the India representatives for AUSTRALIA NETWORK Television, the Australian Public Broadcaster.
